Only a Bishop or a Confessor Priest can receive a confession. It is a soul saving Mystery. A cleansing bath of the soul. It has to be accompanied by real repentance and contrition of heart. We all as humans fell in sin. Only Christ is the one without sin. We should be afraid or ashamed during confession. The Confessor is not a judge. He is a fellow – sufferer man like us. He just hears our sins and reads the Forgiveness Prayer in order to get rid of them. Christ forgives us not only once or twice, but infinite times provided that every time we fell in sins to stand up again with repentance. The tears of repentance and the Forgiveness Prayer are considered from Saint John the Chrysostome as a second Baptism.
