It is one of the Mysteries of the Church. It is officiated by the Bishop or the Priest, who has to be canonical and belong to one of the Autocephalous Orthodox Churches.

Marriage is a great Mystery, as Ap. Paul says, therefore it must not be broken. “What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder” (Mat. 19, 4-6).

The Orthodox Church must perform the funeral service at the passing of our faithful, orthodox baptised members. The funeral service is the Church’s prayer to rest the souls of our fallen believers.
